The Growing City

A second life for the city's existing buildings.

2024Urban renewal studyIndependent academic design

An exploration of adaptive reuse through modular façades, planting units and a new relationship between existing structures and everyday life.

01 / The question

How can an existing building accommodate new forms of use while retaining the resources already invested in it? This project begins with the potential of the building stock and develops a framework for incremental change.

02 / The approach

Component studies connect modular façade interventions and planting units with spatial diagrams. The proposal tests how a repeatable architectural system can support different occupations and a changing urban setting.

03 / My contribution

Independent concept development, component studies, spatial diagrams and design visualisations. The work is an academic design exploration.
